Download Opera 11.10 RC

The first release candidate of Opera 11.10 has been just released and can be downloaded here.

According to the official blog post, the following version continues to polish the Speed Dial, includes lots of bug fixes and has various improvements that reduce the power consumption.

One thing I did not like about setup is the fact that it was trying to connect to the Internet (guess for the installation tracking purposes).

For a complete list of changes, visit the following post.

Thanks to everyone who sent this.

Connect to the internet during installation? That’s nothing! Crappy Chrome requires you to download the WHOLE browser during installation! How awful is that?

    • Pretty cool, as you can have 1 installer and always get the latest version :-)

These days most of us have dsl/cable and unlimited data. Who gives a sht?

Yes, most of us have dsl/cable, but still there are many users that haven’t such internet. I do have DSL but my downlod speed doesn’t go more than 10 Kbit/s and often is less than that (I live in Iran). And keep in mind that many users worldwide still are using dial-up and downloading 25 MB Chrome setup file requires more than 1 hour!!!
Long live Opera 7 MB setup file, even with mandatory connection to the internet.

Opera is the best :-). I was really disappointed with speed dial changes in previous betas. In RC it has been improved..Opera rocks.

  5. oh wow, a web browser that tries to access the internet, what a shame!

What installation tracking? When did Opera start doing that?

Did you actually look at the connection to verify the claim before posting it here?

That’s likely autoupdate to check if there is a newer version available than the one you try to install.
