Focusing on the social aspect, the following build includes a revised Social API and support for Facebook Messenger (see screenshot below). In addition to that, Firefox 17 now has a click to play blocklist, which will protect unsuspecting consumers from running the vulnerable plugin version.

    • Jc18 says:

There are 2 ways to do that

1-) Go to “about:config” and set “social.enabled” to “true”.

      Or

      2-) Go to facebook.com/about/messenger-for-firefox

If Firefox becoming one of those social browsers?

I met they are trying new things to stay relevant. Push on Firefox, just not too much to get the remaining userbase pissed off

    • Przemysław Lib says:

No. Social API is as much in line with Search API as anything.

You know that Google search is NOT google search? But general purpose search where you can change search engine. Anyone who make search engine can provide necessary extension so FF can tap into it.

Same with Social API. People like to have relevant info close at hand. And as with Search API end user have CONTROL.

So no FF is not morphing into “standard” social browser.
