Download Firefox 10 Final

By | January 31, 2012

Download Firefox 10 FinalIn a typical Mozilla fashion, 6 weeks after the Firefox 9 release, the open source organization has now released the final version of Firefox 10.

While the following build has not yet been officially announced, you can already download it from the official mozilla.org servers.

So what’s new? Not much, really.

As reported earlier, Firefox 10 will now hide the forward button in case it’s grayed out. Excluding few fixes and web standards improvements, release notes look pretty bleak.

Firefox 10 Final Changelog

– The forward button is now hidden until you navigate back
– Most add-ons are now compatible with new versions of Firefox by default
– Anti-Aliasing for WebGL is now implemented
– CSS3 3D-Transforms are now supported
– New bdi element for bi-directional text isolation, along with supporting CSS properties
– Full Screen APIs allow you to build a web application that runs full screen
– Added IndexedDB APIs to more closely match the specification
– Inspect tool with content highlighting, includes new CSS Style Inspector

For a complete list of changes, see the following post.

LOL… I just recomended a friend to update it this morning to version 9

  2. Shane Bundy says:

I’m particularly happy about the new web tools and especially the fact add-ons will be compatible with future releases by default, but how will that work?

    • Mikah says:

Just a guess they won’t be blocked , whether they work or not. What they should do is guarantee the 20 most important add-ons work.

      • apád anyád says:

         1. It’s not Mozilla’s job to guarantee that the 20 most popular add-on will work. It’s the job of the add-on developers.

        2.
Case1: If add-on is known to be working on FF stable, it will not be blocked.
Case2: If an add-on is known to have problems in current FF, it will be blocked.
Case3: And here comes the change: if mozilla doesn’t know if the add-on works or not, it will be enabled and treated as a working one: until now, it was blocked.

        • Mikah says:

It might not be Mozilla’s job but it is a cause of user dissatisfaction so it is a problem for Mozilla, every six weeks anyone installing the latest version have to cross their fingers & hope their add-ons will still be working.

Anyone else have a problem with 9/10 where they’re not able to select the address bar (click or highlight anything in it) until they minimize and then restore?  I had this problem with 9 and went back to 3.6 but decided to try out 10 above to see if the problem was fixed and still have it =

Windows XP SP3 if that matters.

Does Firefox feel weird to any of you?

    To me it feels inconsistent.

The UI needs to CHANGE. Why you have no animation when moving tabs?

Source in new window? Dont tell me you can change this in config. It has to be default. Print is too little.

For the Love of God. Change the options menu. It was like that since forever

Has to be less naggy. No you are NOT going to be the default. No I downloaded it from your SITE. I aint get ripped off. DAILY TIP: Did you know help blah blah. Download Firefox on your tablet. Facebook Whore? Like US! Arghhh!!

    Tab groups? Why?

The inspect thing is nice. Improve on that

    • Anonymous says:

Yeah, I think it Firefox feel rough and unfinished.

In Opera, for example, all of your actions flow together smoothly in the UI.

Rearrange the speed dial – the dials gracefully rearrange. Move a tab – the tabs slide into place. Click the website information bubble – the bubble fades/slides in. Tab groups, mouse gesture hints, tab preview windows — they all transition smoothly in Opera.

    • apád anyád says:

Q: Why you have no animation when moving tabs?
A: It had some bugs, also, many people found it disturbing that they couldn’t drag-n-drop tabs to bookmarks.

Request: Change the options menu. It was like that since forever.
Reaction: I do agree on that one, even in FF13 nothing is different.

Problem: No you are NOT going to be the default.
Solve: options – Advanced – General – System Default
      untick Always check…

Problem: No I downloaded it from your SITE. I aint get ripped off. DAILY TIP: Did you know help blah blah.
Never seen anything like that. Is it on the firefox start page?

      Q: Tab groups? Why?
A: can’t really understand what did you mean by this, but if you ask if there any way to organize tabs, Panorama is there for it, just customize the interface and put out the button somewhere.
If you ask why was it done this way, I don1t know, but it’s certainly better than Opera’s way of doing it.

      • Anonymous says:

Panaroma is just too much of a feature.

See they way Opera does it with tab stacking (they should really thank their consumers for the suggestion) is not too bloated.

The implementation of FF feels clumsy at best. They are somewhat like Opera (but much worse) introduce something and never improve on it.

When you were a small company you had to strive to improve, constantly innovate. But these fish eventually grow and get lazy.

      • Mikah says:

I much prefer using Opera’s Winows Panel to Firefox’s Panorama

      • Mikah says:

Using Panorama how do you select a group of tabs & drag them all  into a new stack ?  or do you have to drag them one at a time

        • Tiago Sá says:

As far as I know, you have to drag one at a time. Pain in the ass, but the solution is more complex than it seems, and is fantastic: it would allow us to select multiple tabs on the normal window, and interact with them all at a time.

          • Mikah says:

Why not just use the Ctrl & Shift modifiers when making selections the same as Opera’s Windows panel & just about every other program that uses Windows.
