We Will Have Firefox 3 Alpha 7. Firefox 3 Beta Delayed

By | July 11, 2007 | 0 Comments

Recently Mozilla modified their Firefox 3 roadmap and announced Firefox 3 Alpha 7 instead of Firefox 3 Beta 1.

According to Mozilla, next Firefox 3 release isn’t ready to call itself a “beta”, they want to deliver a product, which is stable and much better, it doesn’t matter if it can take more time than planned. I guess that’s good, we want finished and polished releases, not just a big peace of bugs.

Firefox 3 Alpha 7 should contain anti-malware, finished offline api’s and secure wrappers. If there won’t be any delays for Firefox 3 Alpha 7, it will be released on July 31st.

Firefox 3 Milestone 8 will be available in the middle of September.

Mozilla Firefox & eBay – Firefox eBay Edition

By | July 5, 2007 | 0 Comments

I basically enjoy most of the steps which are being made by Mozilla company to promote Firefox. Their tactics is pretty impressive. This time they surelly will get VERY MUCH boost from eBay and their new product: Firefox eBay Edition.

It’s not just like: dear users, please spread the word… Nah, they are already getting support from one of the big guys (Google). Time for another one, right? While all other browsers expect IE (which is big enough) waiting for few percents increase, Mozilla thinks big. I can’t wait to see how much of the market share they will grab this month.

New Stuff In The Mozilla Store Soon (Firefox T-Shirts)

If you are a big fan of Firefox this might be interesting for you. They will be adding new items to Mozilla Store (later in the summer). One of those are brand new design T-Shirts.

Yes, soon we will have a brand new design Firefox T-Shirts in the Mozilla Store.

Firefox T-Shirts

I must say that they do look much better than those in the right (Firefox logo only) as they don’t concentrate just on the logo anymore (which says not much).

Opera team is showing us a very first screenshot of Opera 9.5 (codename “Kestrel”) with extended validation 1.0 (EV) enabled.

You can read more about it here.

“Mozilla is excited to see the new Extended Validation Guidelines that have resulted from collaboration between Certificate Authorities,” said Window Snyder, Chief Security Officer for the makers of the Firefox web browser. “EV SSL will make it easier for Firefox to tell users who is behind the website they’re seeing, which is an important factor in making trust decisions.”

Extended Validation Guidelines

The issuance process of EV Certificates is strictly defined in the EV Guidelines, that specify all the steps required for a Certification Authority (CA) before issuing a certificate, and includes:

  • Verifying the legal, physical and operational existence of the entity
  • Verifying that the identity of the entity matches official records
  • Verifying that the entity has exclusive right to use the domain specified in the EV Certificate
  • Verifying that the entity has properly authorized the issuance of the EV Certificate

Is Mozilla News Page Outdated?

By | June 18, 2007 | 0 Comments

So I was looking for some news regarding Firefox and found their “Press Releases and Announcements” page.

However, I am not able to find any information about Firefox 2.0.0.4 even if it was released some time ago.

That’s not a big thing, but they should announce it there.
