Not pleased with the user growth.
During yesterday’s Q&A with the investors, Opera’s management has shared some details about its prospects going forward and how will it affect future revenue.
According to the keynote, they are not pleased with the desktop growth and although Opera is keeping up in the key markets like Russia, there is no excitement anywhere else.

After publishing the market share report for the mobile web browsers, it’s time to reveal a real thing: desktop.
As we are weeks before the launch of the Windows 8, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer managed to increase its market share by 0.03 point, up from 53.60% to 53.63%.

After continuously gaining market share for quite some time, Apple’s Safari took a small dip and is now sitting at the 64.01% market share, down from 66.43% to 64.01% (2.42 point decrease).
As promised last month, here comes a new segment and this time it’s for the mobile web browsers only.
Starting with the leader in the pack, Apple’s Safari continues its trend to the 70% mark, thanks to the iPhone and iPad sales, up from 66.22% to 66.43% (0.21 point increase).

Another month, another market share report and this time it’s for the desktop web browsers.
With the upcoming release of IE10, Internet Explorer continues to lose its market share, down from 54.02% to 53.93% (0.09 point decrease).
With the rise of handheld devices and rising competition, we are starting a new section, which will focus on the mobile web browsers only. Let’s get going.
Currently in the lead, Apple’s Safari web browser has climbed up by 0.43 point, up from 66.22% to 65.79%.
Well, here is an interesting turn of events, a somewhat inverted market share data.
Instead of focusing on the user experience and eliminating the useless 2 year release cycle, IE team has decided to fire more ads instead. Certainly, even great ads have their limits and as shown above, Internet Explorer continues to lose its market share, down from 54.05% to 54.02% (0.03 point decrease).
After reaching the 50% market share mark, Internet Explorer reverted some of its gains and is back to 49.87%, 0.13 point decrease.
Only few more points remain as Google Chrome slowly climbs towards the 20% mark, up from 17.41% to 18.05%, 0.64 point increase.
It looks like a fresh batch of the Internet Explorer TV ads and videos targeted at hipsters were not enough to accelerate the growth of Microsoft’s web browser, at least in a short term.
