2 Years Later, People Notice That The Ballot Screen Is Gone
EU begins investigation.
Well, what do you know, for a feature that was widely requested by a lot of web browser makers, it looks like 1 out of more than 1 billion PC users has actually noticed that his bellowed ballot screen has since disappeared.
Apparently, with the release of Windows 7 SP1, the software giant has accidentally removed web browser choice screen and surprisingly, no one has ever noticed. Not until now, at least.

Followed by a great feedback on the first IE ad, the software giant has decided to make a new one; unfortunately, it’s pretty much a rehash of a previous one.
It’s like Windows 98 all over again.
Google To Pay $22.5 Million For Users Tracking
As reported earlier, Google has bypassed the cookie settings in both Apple’s Safari and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browsers. Thankfully, it wasn’t left unnoticed by the Federal Trade Commission.
Now, according to the WSJ, Google is close to a settlement, which would require them to pay a total of $22.5 million to the FTC.

June, 2012 Market Share: Firefox, Safari, Opera – Up; IE, Google Chrome – Down
Well, here is an interesting turn of events, a somewhat inverted market share data.
Instead of focusing on the user experience and eliminating the useless 2 year release cycle, IE team has decided to fire more ads instead. Certainly, even great ads have their limits and as shown above, Internet Explorer continues to lose its market share, down from 54.05% to 54.02% (0.03 point decrease).

EU Joins Microsoft To Protect Users Privacy
Even though EU and Microsoft aren’t exactly the best friends, it looks like both of them have found a common enemy: users tracking.
Recently, the software giant has informed that the upcoming release of the Internet Explorer 10 will have a “Do Not Track” feature enabled by default, which made advertising agencies unhappy. As a result, W3C has updated the DNT draft and asked web browser makers to disable such feature during the initial software launch.
