Bolt 1.5 Mobile Browser out of BetaWith the release of version 1.5, mobile web browser Bolt has finally reached stable release tree. Claiming to be more than 15% faster than previous Beta 3 release, it aims to compete against Opera Mini or other popular web browsers.

Bolt has quite two strong points: it’s free and works with multiple platforms, such as: Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and pretty much every Java based handset. Also, they claim that “it loads pages at least 25%-50% faster than competing mobile browsers”.

If you are curious enough to try it out, here are some download links.

Not a bad browser, but in my experience, their claims about being 50% faster than competition is pure bulls*it. Opera Mini beats it hands down.

Please readers take a look at an Opera employee response to Bitstream claims:

    • nobody says:

well, all that employee had said is ‘i dont believe in speed tests, unless these are our speed tests’..

his entire point was to persuade readers, that there is no ‘proper’ speed test. well, there is no ideal speed test, but people use, measure and make decisions based on ‘nonideal speed tests’ for years now, and these proved accurate and valuable.

same as with opera browser speed – they clam that it is ‘fast’ but when each and f.. every speed test out there proves that opera now is the slowest browser, all they can say is that ‘philosophically speaking, speed is so relative..’ or in plain english ‘opera is the fastest browser out there, and if you dont believe, then you “cant see the big picture”‘

Hi nobody, I have been reading your comments for a while now. And you seems to know a lot about browser and Opera. But I wonder how this hate to Opera come from, could you please be honest with us and tell us that?

well, all that employee had said is ‘i dont believe in speed tests, unless these are our speed tests’..

He says nothing of the sort, you insane liar and troll.

his entire point was to persuade readers, that there is no ‘proper’ speed test. well, there is no ideal speed test, but people use, measure and make decisions based on ‘nonideal speed tests’ for years now, and these proved accurate and valuable.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. He explains that these speed tests have all sorts of possible errors, and he says that even though all proxy browser tests show that Opera Mini is the fastest!

And no, they do not become accurate just because a lot of people accept ehm.

same as with opera browser speed – they clam that it is ‘fast’ but when each and f.. every speed test out there proves that opera now is the slowest browser,

Wrong again. At artificial and useless JS tests that only test if you are using JIT, a JS engine not using JIT will obviously not do well. But it kills at other things:

        http://www.codexon.com/posts/a-real-benchmark-real-websites-with-chrome-firefox-opera-safari-ie

I just proved again that you are a liar.

      • Thoe says:

        BTW:

every speed test out there proves that opera now is the slowest browser

The tests that do, are because they all use SunSpider or V8 to measure, not real sites.

Now go away. And stop lying about what the Opera guy said.
