Internet Explorer 9 to be the Fastest and Safest Web BrowserMicrosoft’s Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Turner has made a bold statement, saying that Internet Explorer 9 will not only be the safest and most secure browser, but also, the fastest web browser in the market:

“IE9 is going to be not only the most safest and secure browser in the market, which IE8 is today, it will be the fastest browser in the market. You saw some demos of that on day one. It’s a smoking hot browser product,”

According to earlier published slides, Internet Explorer 9 Beta is set for August release, therefore, it won’t take long to confirm or deny such claim.

Opera Mobile 10.1 Labs for Maemo Released

Opera Mobile 10.1 Labs for Maemo ReleasedAs Opera Software prepares the next version of Opera Mobile, company has just announced the availability of version 10.1 Labs for Maemo devices.

The following release brings JIT support for JavaScript engine (which makes it the fastest JS Engine on Maemo platform), also GeoLocation and power management support as well as other features and improvements.

Please note: Labs releases contain a variety of well known and unknown issues, be sure to check them in the following page.

Hopefully, Windows Mobile version will be released shortly.

AdBlock for Google Chrome Now Blocks AdsThe latest version of Google Chrome extension called AdBlock is now able to not only hide ads, but also prevent them from downloading at all.

Add-on version 2.0 uses “beforeload” event, that was added by Apple to their WebKit engine sometime this year, and made its way into Google Chrome 5.

Firefox 3.6.7 Released

Firefox 3.6.7 ReleasedA new version of Firefox web browser has been just released by Mozilla Corp.

The following update fixes a total of 121 of bugs, and some of them are security or stability related.

Although Mozilla has not yet updated their download page, you may grab Firefox 3.6.7 from their FTP servers.

Firefox Home App Approved by Apple

Few weeks ago, Mozilla has submitted Firefox Home to Apple’s App Store and today, it was finally approved.

Here is how to get started (as from blog.mozilla.com):

– Install Firefox Sync, a free add-on for Firefox, on your desktop.
– Restart Firefox and follow prompts to create an account with both a password and a secret phrase.
– Go the App Store on your iPhone and search for “Firefox Home” or install it directly from iTunes.
– Launch Firefox Home on your iPhone. You’ll be prompted to enter your Firefox Sync account info. Enter your username, password and Secret Phrase and tap “Done.”
– Enjoy!

It looks like Mozilla has decided to remove and block “Mozilla Sniffer” add-on from addons.mozilla.org website after its review. In addition, blocklist will ask users for such extension uninstallation. Before deletion, add-on was already downloaded 1,800 times and is used by 334 people daily.

Opera Mini 5.1 Final for Android ReleasedAfter releasing the final version of Opera Mini 5.1 for a bunch of Java supporting phones and BlackBerry devices, Opera Software has just finalized its Android and made it available for you to download.

One of the new features in version 5.1 is improved rendering for high-resolution devices, such as HTC EVO 4G or Motorola Droid X.

They also have improved kinetic scrolling and added ability to set Opera Mini as your default web browser.
