This one is really interesting find. Deb Richardson always wondered why photos (colors to be exact) do look different in Photoshop and Firefox 2. As it turns out, this is due color profile support which Firefox 2 doesn’t support. The good news is that Firefox 3 supports color profiles, although it’s disabled by default. The upcoming BlackBerry 9000 (OS 4.6) will be released soon. Along with the various improvements, OS 4.6 also introduces updated BlackBerry web browser. What’s new in it? Now you will be able to download attachments (Internet or Intranet web sites) using your browser. Also, they’ve managed to add support for inline video streaming (full screen supported as well).
Here’s a new app for you to try: Skyfire. It’s a free mobile web browser (currently works on Windows Mobile 5 and 6 only, Symbian support coming soon). As they’ve said in the demo video: “Skyfire is the only product that brings you the pc experience into your mobile phone”. And in case you thought about Opera Mobile… No, they haven’t included it on that video. Just after Opera 9.5 Beta 2 release, Avencius.nl decided to test Firefox 3 Beta 5 and Opera 9.5 Beta 2 Memory Usage. Who’ve won this race? I don’t know, you tell me :-)
Opera Dragonfly… The big secret was finally revealed. As it was expected, Opera Dragonfly is developer tools. Firefox had Firebug for a long time so it’s not a big surprise that Opera decided to create something like that as well… As David Storey said: “Opera has been lacking real developer tools far too long”. Alpha version will be released on May 6th, 2008. There aren’t many known details yet, we’re waiting.
It’s been almost half of the year since the Opera 9.5 Beta 1 release. And just today, Opera team released Opera 9.5 Beta 2. Besides bug fixes, new release also brings some improvements and new features. Check the changelog for more info and download it here.
Some time ago, Opera Mini team released an application for Google Android which is called Opera Mini. You can find more about it here. Also, I am sure that Opera Mini team submitted its application to Google’s Android Developer Challenge.
It looks like Yahoo will be launching yet another new project. This one is called BrowserPlus and it took them 3 years to finish it. So what exactly is Yahoo Browser Plus? Well, as it says in their FAQ:
Yahoo! BrowserPlus is software that lets you do more inside your web browser. BrowserPlus makes it easy to install and use web plugins for a richer experience on the internet.
The web browser for Mac OS X, built on Mozilla’s Gecko rendering engine, Camino 1.6 is now released. The new version now features automatic software updates, improved tabbed browsing, improved search toolbar, changed user interface and a bit more.
