Have You Found Your Favorite Skin?

By | September 18, 2007 | 10 Comments

Web BrowsersToday I was looking for some cool skins. It took me less than to find great looking skin for Firefox web browser, it’s “Blue Ice“.
However, I haven’t found any great looking skin for Opera and don’t know why. Am I too picky? Or just used default skin for a very long time? I’ve tried some of the Editor’s picks but… Most of them there very old ones or just didn’t fit “my style”. Would you like to share us your favorite skins for your favorite web browser?

Mozilla Launches Internet Mail and Communications Initiative

By | September 18, 2007 | 0 Comments

MozillaNot exactly “Web Browsers” related post. Some exciting news today. See Mozilla’s Press Release.

Mozilla today announced a new initiative to stimulate innovation in Internet mail and communications. Mozilla plans to develop Internet communications software based on the Thunderbird product, code and brand. The new initiative also aims to nurture a robust developer ecosystem in order to drive improvements through open source and community innovation, in the tradition of the Firefox web browser…

Mozilla will provide US$3 million seed funding to establish this new company.

From SpreadFirefox

The goals for the new company are:

  • Take care of Thunderbird users
  • Move Thunderbird forward to provide better, deeper email solutions
  • Create a better user experience for a range of Internet communications — how does / should email work with IM, RSS, VoIP, SMS, site-specific email, etc?
  • Spark the types of community involvement and innovation that we’ve seen around web “browsing” and Firefox.

Tune Up Your Firefox about:blank Page

    By | September 16, 2007 | 0 Comments

Isn’t Firefox about:blank page bit boring? Just a white backgrund and nothing else. Have you ever wanted to make it look different? Guess what. You can do that now with Firefox Stylish add-on.

    Some cool looking about:blank pages

    Firefox about:blank

    Firefox about:blank dark

I had some problems after installing “about:blank – FF blurry” style. It messed up all my other styles. Maybe that’s just me, but don’t say that I haven’t warned you. Use it on your own risk.

You can find many about:blank pages styles here or even create your own one.

    Animated Favicons, Firefox Only?

    By | September 12, 2007 | 3 Comments

Web BrowsersIs there anything wrong with the code itself or only Firefox (and Firefox based browsers) can handle animated favicons?

    [link href="ico.gif" TYPE="image/gif" REL="icon"]
Changed <> with the [] so code would be visible.

I’ve checked this site with Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, Opera 9.23, Opera 9.5 Alpha, Safari 3.0.3 Beta, and only in Firefox I’ve seen animated favicon. Any ideas?
